BFTW 2019 Customers: Maths Pathway

Maths Pathway is a social enterprise which exists to dramatically reform the teaching and learning of mathematics in schools. They envision a world where every student experiences growth and success in maths. No matter their current level, or their background. We chat to Hayley Fleming to learn more.

1. What makes your company Best For The World?

At Maths Pathway, our mission is to build a future in which every child who leaves school does so fully numerate and confident in their ability to think mathematically. We are dedicated to providing an education that will prepare students for whatever they may dream for their future — to pursue further education, as well as the jobs beyond.

If we’re to meet the challenges of the future — like climate change — we’re going to need all STEM brains on deck. In the six years since the birth of Maths Pathway, this stance has helped us grow from two teachers helping their own students, to a thriving network of more than 2,200 teachers across Australia.

2. What makes you stand out from other companies?

Maths Pathway’s Learning and Teaching model supports teachers to deliver personalised learning to every student, increasing growth and engagement in the classroom. The model is the first and only of its kind and we’re proud to share our love of maths with more than 1,700 teachers and 57,000 students across Australia.

3. How do you plan to celebrate?

We’re all getting together to celebrate over some delicious food and drinks!

4. Part of being “Best for the World” is striving to always use your business as a force for good. What initiatives do you have planned for the coming year to continue to be Best for the World?

At Maths Pathway, we’re focused on improving our practices year after year. Currently we’re focusing on reducing our energy and water usage by learning new ways to track our consumption and implementing improvements regularly. We’re also committed to educating our team of best practice, from small improvements on what they’re already doing, to big changes that will have a positive impact on the community and the environment.

5. What advice do you have for other B Corps and purpose-led businesses that want to improve their impact?

Reach out to B Corps in your local area! They are a wealth of knowledge and can help you get started to improve your impact.
