Ring the bell: Public Sector Network

Public Sector Network is a social enterprise that exists to help government around the globe to break down silos, collaborate, and work together for better outcomes for citizens. We speak to Gemma Mills, Head of Purpose to learn a little more about the newest addition to the B Corp community!

Please describe in a few lines what your company does.

Public Sector Network connects government organisations across the globe. Our mission is to give public sector professionals a single place to come together, share ideas, and get free, unlimited access to the latest information about critical topics that are transforming the government landscape.

What motivated you to pursue B Corp certification?

Our two founders are very passionate about building community and giving back so it was those guys driving it from the start. The very foundations of Public Sector Network are built on giving back. Making sure that the people and departments of the public sector who need the latest information and education get it, and get it for free so they can make a difference in their communities. They also read Looptail by Bruce Poon Tip which sparked the start of our B Corp journey.

How do you plan to celebrate your B Corp certification?

We had a launch party on Wednesday 5th Feb with employees and clients to celebrate and talk about what it means for us as a business and how we can all be involved.

Can you share some of the initiatives or impact areas you do really well in, that qualify you as a B Corp?

We actively encourage remote working and teleconferencing and have policies that reward taking public transport and walking to work. We are also part of the 1% Pledge community where we donate 1% of our working time to charity initiatives close to our employees hearts.

Do you have any tips for aspiring B Corps about the certification process?

Start small and keep it simple. The littlest of changes add up to huge shifts. Oh, and don't be too shy or proud to ask for help and advice, other B Corps have been very helpful when we've reached out
